Chief Radiographer
Forbes Health Service
About the role
An opportunity has arisen for permanent appointment into the role of Chief Radiographer at the Forbes Health Service. Medical Imaging is an independent business unit operating within Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) and providing diagnostic imaging services across multiple facilities throughout Western NSW.
This role will be primarily responsible for the provision of imaging services within the Mudgee Health Service, with additional operational responsibilities across surrounding outreach imaging services, as well as maintaining supportive managerial reporting lines to regional sole Chief Radiographers. The successful candidate will hold current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer and an EPA radiation licence (IA14 or equivalent), with demonstrated leadership and management experience in a medical imaging setting, including workforce management, financial oversight, equipment procurement, and service planning.
The role requires strong clinical expertise across a broad range of imaging modalities, the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, and a commitment to quality improvement and continuous professional development. Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to manage a high-volume, complex environment and deliver on business objectives in collaboration with senior stakeholders.
The position also involves overseeing daily clinical, financial, and administrative operations, ensuring accreditation compliance, contributing to strategic planning and budget management, and supporting initiatives such as the Remote X-ray Operator program. A current NSW driver licence and willingness to travel within and outside the LHD, including occasional overnight stays, are also required.
