Astec, a member company of the Asphalt Group at Astec Industries, designs and manufactures continuous and batch-process portable, relocatable, and stationary hot-mix asphalt (HMA) plants (Double Barrel-brand drum mixers, Six Pack-brand portable asphalt plants, Coater II facilities, and hot-mix storage silos), and soil and environmental remediation equipment. Astec also offers services that include plant safety, maintenance and operation, and emissions control classes for plant operators, service personnel, and superintendents. The company sells its products, new and used, around the world. It was founded in 1972 by Al Guth, Gail Mize, Norm Smith (president), and Mike Uchytil (VP).
