Mission Founded in Toronto in 1964 as a charitable organization to promote Chinese culture and heritage through caring for the elderly and nurturing the young, Mon Sheong Foundation provides programs and services to the elderly and to the young in response to the needs of Canada’s culturally diverse communities.
Description Mon Sheong Foundation (MSF) has been a registered Canadian charitable organization in the Greater Toronto Area since 1964, when Reverend Ron Con, former Minister of the Chinese Presbyterian Church in Toronto, first created a charity to serve the community with his colleagues. It has a philosophy of caring and respect, based on the life of Lord Mon Sheong himself, a man of legendary generosity who lived in China around 300 B.C. Mon Sheong Foundation has been a pioneer in service to both the young and the elderly. It was the first Chinese voluntary organization to acquire charitable status in Ontario. The Mon Sheong Board of Directors is made up of many prominent philanthropists, business leaders and medical professionals.
Today we touch the lives of over 150,000 people every year through our eight services: four long-term care centres, an adult day program, three Chinese school campuses, a youth group, two community and volunteer services centres, three independent living senior apartments, and assisted living, private care, and charity care units.
