Formica Corporation knows a thing or two about counter-culture. The company designs, manufactures, and distributes its eponymous high-pressure laminate used for countertops, tables, floors, and other surfaces. Other products include fire-rated wall panels, sinks, doors, and toilet partitions. It also makes metal, stone, and wood veneer surface materials. In addition to residential kitchens, Formica's products are used in commercial buildings, including restaurants stores, offices, and hospitals. The company sells its products in more than 100 countries in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. Founded in 1913, Formica was acquired by New Zealand materials company Fletcher Building in 2007.
