Description The planes in Spain fly mainly for Iberia, Lineas Aereas de España, the country's leading air carrier. Including regional service provided by a contractor, Iberia flies to 100-plus destinations in about 45 countries with a fleet of some 100 aircraft. Outside Spain, the carrier serves markets in Europe, Latin America, and Africa. It extends its network as a member of the Oneworld global marketing and code-sharing alliance, led by American Airlines and British Airways (BA). (Code-sharing enables airlines to sell tickets on one another's flights and thus offer passengers more destinations.) Iberia and BA merged in 2011, creating International Airlines Group. The two carriers continue to fly under their own brands.
