      An exciting time to be involved in Bodycote.

      Pros

      Bodycote has a strong brand in the market. And as the largest global heat treater - has many well-established plants in their local markets and industries. The business has a new strategy and leadership and is making a big investment to align its 135+ plants to its values - safety first, performance, customer experience and sustainability. There is a lot of change happening in the business - and this change is designed well for building a successful Bodycote for the future. This makes it an exciting time to be working at Bodycote. And as these change programmes are deployed across the 135 'engines' of the business, employee engagement and enthusiasm is great to see. An exciting time to be at Bodycote.

      Cons

      Internal communication channels (bringing the whole group together as one) do need further work. Historically this has not been prioritised. But the value of One Bodycote is well understood by the leadership and a lot of work is ongoing to drive this forwards - sharing and engaging across the group's 135 plants and 4,000 employees.

      High pace of change. Leadership has conviction. Openness to ideas. The old culture of management by control has largely gone.

      Cons

      Mid-sized company so lacks the systems/data to support quick and effective decision-making. Age of workforce is not balanced, we need more younger people coming in and building careers here.

      The culture here is genuinely one of the best aspects of the company. Everyone I’ve met and worked with has been welcoming, supportive, and friendly. There’s a real sense of collaboration and people are always willing to offer help and share their knowledge. There are lots of exciting initiatives in the pipeline, and you can feel the potential the company has to improve and shape the industry. The company values are clearly demonstrated in how people work and interact day-to-day. Flexible working is another major plus. The company is staying aligned with modern, future-focused ways of working, which makes a big difference in maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
