Pros

An important cause; you know you are making a difference in real people's lives. Leadership works very hard to be professional and fair. An opportunity to do work you feel proud of. This work generally attracts dedicated and hardworking people.

Cons

It can be hard not to feel discouraged when you see the deep needs (homelessness and intimate partner violence) out there as part of your day-to-day.

Pros

Collaborative, fast-paced and never dull. Building Futures is a Housing First agency and plays a key role in Alameda County's plan to end homelessness. They provide lasting solutions, not just a band-aid fix. It feels wonderful to make a difference in people's lives. My co-workers were truly an inspiration.

Cons

The need can be overwhelming. It feels great to see clients succeed in building new lives with BF's help. But it seems like the numbers of people on our communities who are experiencing homelessness and domestic violence continue to grow. There is always more to be done, so work/life balance can be a challenge.
