Pros

I have worked for agencies that are both big and small, and no place is like CASE. From the moment you walk in the door, I kid you not, you feel something—for me (and many others I've heard describe it) it was a feeling of warmth, friendliness, and positive energy with a sense of coolness that I wanted to be a part of (*for the record, I'm not cool). The first time I walked into the door, I was immediately greeted by one of the partners with a huge welcoming smile. By the time my interview process was over, I pretty much had met everyone in the office—not because they were just trying to vet me, but because everyone is that friendly. Before accepting an offer, I told them that I could commit to 2 year, 3 max. I ended up staying for 7. CASE is by no means perfect—no agency or workplace is, but it is the best NY agency that I've worked for. If you have the opportunity to either work for or with CASE, you won't regret it. You'll be compensated well for your time, you'll have an impressive portfolio featuring some of the world's top brands, and you'll have a new set of friends that will literally do anything for you. Here are just a few of the pros from my perspective. · Friendly atmosphere · Leadership truly cares about every individual employee · Strives for true work-life balance · Great Benefits (cell phone, 401k, profit sharing, competitive wages, great OOO policy, closed between Christmas and New Years, discounts on class pass and Citi Bikes, etc.) · Everyone truly has the ability to add value. · A great place where you easily get back what you put into it. · They have a very impressive client roster · You have a support system behind you rather than a target on your back—within the first two weeks, we had a really difficult call with the clients who were trying to point fingers to save face . given my previous agency experiences, I would have been very concerned about my own standing. Immediately after the call, one of the clients said to me, "you did a great job in there. Just stay positive, and don't let them get to you." · Low-Turnover Rate

Cons

Because CASE gets so many of the big things right, it is more of the nitpicky things that start to bother you. · As with any agency (especially smaller agencies), it can sometimes be tricky to balance the workload of the many projects going on at once. While most people have regular hours, there are typically a few who stay late. · The majority of CASE's clients are within the Beauty sector—it's great if you want niche beauty experience, but sometimes it's nice to have a bit more of a break from beauty. · It can take persistence to get partner's to weigh in on certain things—not because they don't want to, but because they are so busy. At the end of the day, I think you will be hard-pressed to find an agency that is as cool as CASE with partners that care about you more than they do the projects. It is a special place.

Pros

CASE was my first job right out of school, and was honestly the best 'trial by fire' experience I could have asked for. Having coworkers that cared about me as a designer, my career goals, and me as a person truly made the team feel like family. Being a small agency, everyone had to wear several hats—which is great if you like working on a variety of projects—and which taught me to work efficiently. If you took all of the people who did all of the work on group projects in school, and started an agency, you'd have CASE. I had a lot of one on one coaching from my manager, as well as the partners so I could really pull my weight... and in turn, I was entrusted to help out with some truly amazing projects. That mentoring really helped me in my career and ultimately is what helped me to build my portfolio, and continue onto the next step in my career. If there was a project that sounded really cool, and I had the bandwidth for it, the leadership always gave me the opportunity to jump on it. You get out of it what you put into it. I enjoyed going to work every day, and there probably isn't a better agency for work/life balance in NYC. A lot of people have families, so the leadership was very understanding of personal life "stuff". Good benefits, decent pay, and very little ego. The culture was great, and I will have lifelong friends from my time at CASE. I would (and have) definitely recommend my friends to apply for positions for years to come.

Cons

Amount of work > Amount of people to do the work. There were definitely a lot of fires to put out, and it often felt like the 'new normal' level of stress/intensity just kept getting raised—without any added benefit or compensation to make up for it. I worked there for 2 years, and probably worked on 50+ clients, sometimes up to 12 different projects a day, so it did burn me out quickly. The only other thing that's tough is the opportunity for growth. Since it's a small agency, there's only so much room to grow. And with the opportunity for advancement being so limited, pay increases were hard to come by.
