I have read some of the reviews of former employees. Those comments could not be further from the truth. I have found that the research that Sterne Agee, (cbg's clearing department) provides to the brokers to be EXTREMELY profitable. The management provided me with a foundation for a long career in this industry. Most of the reviews that were negative i suspect were former employees that could not handle cold calling. Realize working at CBG is like running your own business, if you don't have clients you don't have a business... Every large wire house firm cold calls.... Great atmosphere, good management great place to work.
Cons
To be honest i left the firm to go work with a family member who is also in the industry, i really don't have anything negative to say. This was honestly a great place to learn this business.
I joined CBG as a trainee and I have had a great experience with them as I moved up through the system.
-Great group of people to work with
-Team camaraderie(anyone will help if they see someone around them struggling)
-You will get in out whatever you put it --if you don't want to work hard this would be a con
-Personal individual training that lasts as long or short as you need
-The position is probably the hardest position you can imagine since it is mostly over the phone but once you starting seeing success you will feel extremely accomplished.
Cons
I don't really have anythign negative to say. This is the closest you can get to owning your own business so the cons will be a direct reflection of each individuals work performance but in general the hardest part is building a client base. Some people can do it some can't. You have to have a positive attitude at all times or you won't enjoy the job and you have to enjoy the market.
