Pros

Great colleagues. Really enjoy the work that we do. A great way to leverage my engineering degree into real-world benefit very quickly.

Cons

High amount of travel, Mon-Thurs most weeks of the year. Other firms travel Mon-Fri so it could be worse, but don't take this job if you aren't prepared to do that

Pros

1. Working with great people -- smart, competent, nice, interesting -- I really like my coworkers as people and collaborators. 2. Project-style work means that it always varies and doesn't get old. 3. Opportunity to be promoted at any time with structured reviews each month -- you can make a lot of your development. 4. Medium- to small-company vibes, you can still have an impact on some company decisions. 5. Great vacation, no weekends working (5 weeks)

Cons

If you don't want to travel, don't do this job. It can be fun and exciting to go new places, but if it doesn't sound fun to you from day 1, look elsewhere. Travel decreases at more senior levels, but is very significant the first 6+ years. Company has been going through a transition period with a larger staff and lower utilization -- this has created new challenges that have taken some time to be addressed. Main impact is that many people were not consistently on a project, leading to lower pay (bonus tied to site days) and slower development. As the company has grown, there has been some challenge figuring out how to communicate to a larger group and there is some junior-senior divide that is larger than before. As a relatively small company, swings in hiring, attrition, and projects can have a large impact on the team.
