Pros

Compass's products are top notch and industry leading, and they continue to innovate. The business development and product management decisions are smart, and the company is taking a long view to smart growth, which can be rare nowadays. The people are a major strength here as well- from top to bottom a phenomenally smart, fun, experienced, and hard working group of people with an incredible wealth of industry knowledge to learn from. Company culture is very casual- casual dress, paid lunches, etc Salaries are good and bonuses are strong

Cons

Not my silo, but some personnel are probably worked too hard by having to wear too many hats. Hours can be long and clients demanding; some steps to mitigate this would help to keep employee morale high. Vacation and time off for things like doctor appointments etc are limited.

Pros

Working for a Compass is a rewarding and challenging experience allowing for employees to fully exercise our brain while giving us opportunities to advance personal careers. Compass has created an environment and culture that gives me and other employees a platform to advance our financial tech, business management, and industry knowledgebase. Getting real hands on experience by speaking with clients and peers in regular settings, having opportunities to pitch ideas to upper management, and having the ability to directly effect change because of personal ownership of projects, gives me and employees the potential to advance within the company. The culture at the office is also very open and transparent with a trading floor set up, where there are no corner offices and you have the ability to talk with management and peers easily. Also, there is encouragement of work-life balance. A lot of employees like to run, exercise and engage their bodies in physical activities as well as their mind after work.

Cons

The pace of Compass is quick. Because Compass is known and pride’s themselves on being at the forefront of Fin-tech and Mortgage Banking technology, you are expected to produce on items and tasks that fall under your job title. If you are not familiar with mortgage or industry terms, there is a lot to learn. I was provided with ample training and information, but you are expected to learn yourself, there is no true-hand holding as everyone has their own tasks to complete. Employees will most definitely help, if you ask questions, but if you don’t speak up or engage in your work, you will fall behind.
