Pros
- Working with a team - Fixed schedule, you follow Australian/New Zealand Standard Time - Offers adequate training for new hires; inductive & insightful regarding Australia/New Zealand’s construction process - Your communicative skills will be challenged & developed shortly as you go - Youthful peers/colleagues - Competitive salary for entry level - Interesting promotion scheme - Social responsibility and work through their Fair Building Network - Team leaders the most helpful people, I think
Cons
- Overwhelming workload; demanding work nature especially with current KPIs - Job itself never ends and you will at some point be forced to work beyond your given shift just to finish deadlines - Not all researchers end up having the same cases; some end up getting more difficult portfolios and have difficulties managing the projects - Management lacks empathy and immediate support for its employees regarding overall system and policies; they have slow, almost NO application of an action plan for some instances - People come and go; at least 1 or 2 people resign every month. Most of them quit after less than year, shows how the job can be difficult especially for an entry level - Depending on given portfolio, 70% of the time you need to perform unsolicited calls to firms/contacts which can be exhausting because most of the time you’ll end up speaking with contacts who don’t recognize the purpose of your company because it’s not well-marketed - Cycled work; limited opportunities are offered to employees outside of work for them to enjoy - Work is mechanical and exhausting despite sitting in front of computers the whole day - Work nature has the tendency to make you sick – physically AND mentally as it is stressful - Targets are beyond employee’s control and it’s not always guaranteed - At times, work ethics are questioned especially when people find out you’re tracking a project they do not have full consent of listing in the database - You’re not exempted of any work when you file a sick leave; leaves are not paid until you're regularized - Work-life balance is difficult to achieve - Little feedback from clients
