Geomega has been an excellent place to learn and share great science. My coworkers are incredibly intelligent, with a lot to offer, and Andy (President) is brilliant. If you want to surround yourself with great people, this is the place to be. Overall, this job has been a very positive experience for my developing career.
Cons
This is a mom and pop organization, so do not expect a lot of transparency. Top management is completely disconnected from the rest of the office. The majority owner doesn't work in the office nor understand the dynamics of the business or its employees, but still makes important business decisions.
The company has great people to work with and provides stimulating and challenging scientific work which requires multitasking capabilities. Benefits are cheap but company covers more than most.
Cons
Very limited upward mobility within the company and inconsistent top down communications. Projects are worked on in a fire drill fashion - all hands on next deadline. No statement of job description and responsibilities. Environmental sciences consulting firm which has work load subject to the industries fickle demand.
