Great Engineering Company

Pros

Very technical company. Great engineers. Everyone is enthusiastic. What we do is technically hard and the challenge motivates people. Hazelcast has the most widely used In-Memory Data Grid - and its use has grown by more than 400% in the last 3 years. So this feels good.

Cons

Being a distributed company we don't always see each other as much we would like. But we are all in Europe so we can all attend team standups and are about 3 hours apart in timezone at most. Although there are two Hazelcast Dev Days each year, a week where all engineers come together and co-work. Project X is a highlight.

Rejoined Hazelcast - great people

Pros

I worked at Hazelcast previously and have rejoined. The people are great and I've learnt a lot from them - many are experts in their field, especially in Tech. I appreciate the remote work (which is hard to find now) and having autonomy in my work. It provides some creative freedom, and there's a sense of trust since we're working remotely. It's also an international company, so most teams are a mixture of people in different countries. I also had the opportunity to travel abroad with the whole Engineering Dept which was amazing.

Cons

It's more of a scale-up culture in the sense that it's fast-paced, there's autonomy in your work, and people are often wearing different hats. However, I prefer working in scale-ups because of less bureaucracy & more of a flat structure, so this works for me.

Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We are absolutely thrilled to have you back at Hazelcast. A 'returning’' colleague is one of the greatest compliments we can receive, as it speaks to the lasting strength of our culture and business potential. We are so glad to hear that you continue to value the expertise of your colleagues and the autonomy provided by our remote-first environment. It’s also great to know that you value the global connections that are vital to our success as a distributed team. We agree that the fast-paced, scale-up nature of our work isn’t for everyone, but for those who thrive in an autonomous environment, it can be a very rewarding experience. We are proud to have you back in the fold and look forward to everything we will achieve together in this next chapter. Thank you for your continued contributions!
