Pros

Real engineering ownership through small autonomous squads. You build a hard, meaningful product, a proprietary core banking system on event sourcing and CQRS, instead of wiring up third-party BaaS APIs. Rare chance to own regulated fintech infrastructure end to end. Smart, low-ego colleagues and leadership that trusts engineers to make real technical calls.

Cons

Operating a regulated CBS is demanding and the scope is large for the team size. Compliance adds real weight to delivery, and the breadth of the domain means a steep ramp-up before new engineers are fully productive.
