First thing, if you are looking for a normal 9-5 job Iconic is not the place for you! If you are looking for something more then it could massively impact your life. I was a fresh university graduate down in London and I was looking for a career, I was in the classic catch 22 situation of having a degree with no experience. Big companies want experience, but you can't get experience if people won't give you a shot. So I came for an interview at Iconic Event Strategies and I met Simon Reynolds. I've never been so impacted by meeting someone and not before or since have I ever met someone so genuinely excited about life. I had to know what it was all about and I feel in love with the business. I moved my life from London to Norwich in a heartbeat. The environment of being surrounded by like minded ambitious people, the bond of everyone supporting each other, having no politics or he said she said and the opportunities to grow and develop professionally and to learn how to be a manager and the earnings that come along with it. I can honestly say meeting Simon changed my life and I have never worked in a better environment, and the skills I learnt will stay with me for the rest of my life. 2 years prior to working alongside Simon at Iconic I had been running my own business in East London. Since I can remember I've always wanted to be successful off my own back, and having done the whole uni thing, and tried my hand in various other industries, working for myself was the path I chose. I worked for 2 years in and around east London advertising for small local businesses generating a small fortune, but very quickly it became apparent that I didnt have the necessary knowledge of how to effectively run a business. Needless to say, it failed. Shortly after I was introduced to Simon through a friend of mine who had been working at Iconic and he had tried explaining the industry to me but it didn't make sense to me, so I was invited in for an observation day. Going along was the best decision I've ever made! Simon gave me the opportunity to ask any question and really find out what's made the company so successful, why he started Iconic, where the company is going etc he was very honest with me from day one. I relocated my life to Norwich and immediately started my development under Simons guidance and it's changed my life. I've been given the opportunity to learn about how to build a business and all the information is free, I've never been in another environment where everyone around you genuinely wants to see you do well, it's been fantastic! Through constant support and mentoring I've learnt how to be completely self motivated and confident in all areas of event marketing, including developing other people, interviewing on behalf of the company, public speaking, arranging business trips and running events. I can safely say that all the coaches and mainly Simon, everyone at Iconic event Strategies have helped me to change my life in every aspect. I built so many incredible relationships, found some great business partners and absolutely love what I do. As little as 2 years ago I didn't even know what direct marketing was! And now I couldn't see myself doing anything else.
