Pros
I joined Industry Intelligence’s content team fresh out of college. I was very anxious, considering this was my first (big) job ever, but the company welcomed me with open arms and helped me get out of my comfort zone, both professionally and personally.
A wide variety of industries are covered at Industry Intelligence, and the company works to see which is the best fit for each editor to cover and assists them in gaining knowledge and interest in their respective industries. Over the past five years, I’ve also held other roles at the company, so I’m never stuck doing the same type of assignment or covering the same industries day in and day out.
Majority of editors have been with Industry Intelligence Editors for many years now – at least five years. And several employees who left the company in the past have also returned as freelancers throughout the past year or two.
Work-life balance on the content team is great. Editors work Mondays to Fridays, no weekends. And when needed, editors are allowed a flexible work schedule for doctor appointments, family emergencies, etc. Coworkers—both within and outside the content team—are often supportive of each other’s hobbies, interest and goals outside of the office too, which makes the work environment not feel monotonous.
And lastly, the company also likes to hold in-office potlucks and parties to celebrate certain major holidays as well as employees’ birthdays and other life milestones, which is always fun! And at least once a year, employees participate in 5k/10k races together.
Cons
It might be a bit daunting at first to some employees that they can and should interact with sales and the CEO, something not typically seen in traditional work settings.
