      Well funded by the German government (MPG) and very international.

      Cons

      Lack of social interaction. Depends on the department you are in, the atmosphere can be really different. The unnecessary bureaucracy internally.

      Well funded labs and decent cafeteria.

      Cons

      The research environment is toxic. This institute get one of the lowest internal rating of mental wellbeing among all institutes of Max Planck Society, especially for PhD students.
