Pros
I had a family emergency that impacted my finances greatly. This is when I learned that this family owned business will loan you money and withdraw portions from your payroll. I believe you are permitted up to 3 loans in a year but depending on your quality as an employee they're always willing to accommodate you.
The reason I say this is a great place to start is because I was hired on as a student. They were willing to work with my school schedule and remained flexible during finals and other important school activities.
I have never met such a hands on CEO. He AND his sons, the managers, are always active throughout the warehouse. Whether it's reorganizing the floor, assisting customers, assembling or packing product, they're constantly striving to improve the productivity of the business therefore lightening the loads of other team members.
PTO during the holidays. This can be found in most professional businesses but makes monarch different is they are generous with their paid time off. For example this past Thanksgiving they had a half working day on the 22nd, granted the rest of that work day wasn't paid but the 23, AND the 24th were both paid and they were closed Saturday. Most people I socialize with that have similar employers were only given the day of thanksgiving off and had to go back to work the following day.
They do Christmas! Christmas bonuses start at $500, they raffle off a variety of gifts, and cater from delicious restaurants. Last year, I believe, we were given 3 or 4 days of PTO during the Christmas season.
Paid vacation rolls over and doesn't expire. They do push for people to use their VTO but I've heard a couple of employees have a little over a month of vto they're just sitting on.
Cons
There are typical cons at this workplace that can be found at any retailer. For example, I myself have yet to experience this, but I have heard from other employees that there is favoritism. Specifically towards the sales team.
The health insurance could be better but I think it's a liiiiiittle better than average.
Compensation should be increased. I cant speak for everyone else but I know after comparing salaries on salary.com and here on Glassdoor and feel there is a definite need for improvement.
