I’m a 17 year service industry vet and I can confidently say that Muchacho is one of the best places I’ve ever worked. The staff (peers) as well as in house management team are absolutely phenomenal. Rozie Slaughter is one of the hardest working realest GMs I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. The entire staff is genuine, kind, and so very cute. They hiring process is easy; they’re not discriminating against tattoos/piercings/gender identities etc.
Cons
It’s locally corporate (under Electric Hospitality), so the structure is often tedious / takes to make changes on certain things. Income, as it’s tip based and pooled with all FOH staff isn’t always consistent (as with most industry jobs).
The employees. Lots of turnover lately but the team had always been incredibly strong and is what has made muchacho an enjoyable place to work.
Cool spot.
Flexible hours.
Excellent job as a temporary employee
Cons
Favoritism from managers to certain employees
Hard to grow
Low key sexist
Corporate does not care about employees especially long term.
A lot of management turnover
Random firing rampages
Many shifts with tip pool percentages and whatnot which lended itself to inequitable wages among team and workload.
