Pros
I can only speak as someone the tech / product team, but there's a lot of great things about my life here:
- It's a compassionate, authentic, mission-driven company, so people actually care about what they're doing;
- Lots of freedom to do, say, be who you are, and follow your passion;
- Good sense of humour is endemic to the tech team;
- People don't take themselves too seriously. We have fun, work hard, and the vibes are good;
- You have space to actually care about quality, testing, implementing new good practices;
- I feel respected, there's a lot of diversity, and very flexible working hours;
- People listen to your feedback and ideas;
- Remote work allows flexibility for visiting family abroad and working from other countries etc.
As the company matures and scales, it feels like the team are all learning together, figuring out how to make the workflows and the product better all of the time. And that spirit pervades everything. Which, in my prior experience, is pretty rare!
Cons
Drawbacks:
- Occasionally too many dad jokes;
- Far more dog photos than cat snaps shared on Slack;
- Still figuring some of the formal processes out, which could be considered a good or a bad thing, depending on whether you're happy to contribute to them.
