Pros

Pride trains inmates for real world employment. I learned several programming languages and am a full stack developer now. all this was learned in prison.

Cons

No cons. Their program was essential to my career in development.

Pros

PRIDE gives inmates a chance to learn job skills so they are better prepared to come clean after release. Where 55 percent of inmates stay clean, PRIDE inmates stay clean 85 percent of the time. PRIDE is a non-profit, quasi-state agency, and they sell a lot to governments. Pay is below private sector counterparts. The company was working to address that in 2008 before the state economy took a real dive. Unfortunately, I was hired for a new position that did not survive the downturn. Overall my experience overall was very positive.

Cons

PRIDE is very dependent on state agency funding. That took a big hit the past couple of years. The major downside is that dependence. The company has been working to find alternate markets.
