This was my first embedded software engineering job out of college, I have since moved onto other companies/studios in Southern California but looking back, it was a great experience. Not only did I learn much while at ProSoft; the people and teams I worked with I'll remember for the rest of my life. Some of the pros were:
1. Great people (as just mentioned).
2. Decent compensation / insurance.
3. Ability to move up and improve / grow.
4. The company is fairly family-oriented.
5. The ability to travel was a great plus.
Cons
There were a few cons, but not many:
1. Innovation. During my time there, I believe we could have innovated more, but that's tough to do with some older industries.
2. Expectations. Some expectations out of the engineers was a little unrealistic, but they did listen.
I work at the company because of my boss. He offers guidance but lets me manage my area. There is no micro managing nonsense. This seems to be part of the culture. Hire the right people and let them get on with the job.
Cons
It is easy to get wrapped up in work and have no balance............need to manage that myself.
