Pros

Baked goods and board game nights, what more could a girl ask for? This sums up the culture at Propeller pretty well but the people baking the goods and playing board games with you are your peers who all genuinely want to make impact with their work and have good fun along the way. Propeller was founded with a hospitality mindset by our CEO. With strategy as our recipe for success and our people being the key ingredients that make it all worth it. I can truly say that this hospitality mindset has got me sticking around at Propeller and why so many people have a tenure of 5+ years, which for a company that is only 11 years is old is amazing! At Propeller, I feel like a human first - meaning that I am mentored and supported with empathy, compassion and understanding. This is reflected in the leadership of the marketing team, my manager and head of marketing is a safe space for me. At Propeller I side stepped from product marketing manager to regional marketing manager and during this process my manager championed and advocated for me. Under her leadership, I feel like the team is really stepping into its own, making bold moves and hitting the ground running towards a clear North Star. The marketing team is the largest I have ever worked for - 17 people and growing. I am a start up girlie through and through and I didn’t think I would ever enjoy working in such a large team but I love it! The depth of knowledge sharing, the camaraderie and the genuine desire to help a mate out for the wellbeing of the team is second to none. We vibe together and we get the work done.

Cons

Startups are notoriously known for building the plane whilst flying it, so if that is not your vibe, I do not recommend working at Propeller. We are also a start up that is officially a scale up, so all the wonderful chaos that is building process, duplication of admin, adding to our tech stack and sorting out all those fun tasks that are time-consuming is challenging at best but we see the light at the end of the tunnel and we are getting there - plus hiring a tonne of people who are master implementers of change and streamlining process.

Pros

• The people - Honestly everyone is so friendly and welcoming to new people, even outside their team making it feel like a family rather than just a workplace • The impact - You can see the difference your work makes when talking to customers—they see so much value in our products and they are always willing to help review and give feedback to make it better. • Highly collaborative marketing team - No egos, everyone's ideas are listened to and you are able to test and learn without the fear of failing. The team pumps out an insane amount of work but everyone is there to step in and support each other when needed to get work done. • A great Sydney office - The employee experience team do a fab job at making the office a place people genuinely want to be in - also there's free food, drinks and Friday company lunches which is a bonus • Strong goals and the right team - The perfect time in the Marketing team where we've got a clear path/goals for the future and the right team to achieve them • Honest and transparent leadership - Leaders share overarching company position regularly and honestly which is super refreshing

Cons

• Global hours can be hard to get used to - Working with the US means sometimes having early meetings but boundaries are always respected and we have a strong culture of being able to decline a meeting if it's outside working hours and doesn't work for your life. • Marketing team largely US-based - Initially there were fewer teammates in Sydney, but the US team is great at building connection over video and the marketing team is expanding in Sydney. Leadership does a great job of making it feel like one team despite the physical distance between the two teams
