Pros

- The people. Everyone says this about their workplace, but the people at Propllr possess an impressive blend of curiosity, compassion, and drive. This is a special place to work. - Leadership is comprised of genuinely kind people who want the best for their employees. Josh and Brenna are at the top of their fields and will help employees hone their talents in whatever ways they can. - You can see the real-world impact your actions have on your startup clients. Whether you draft a long-form report or land a top-tier placement, you feel the benefits those "wins" drive. - The compensation package is competitive. Propllr takes care of its employees. Whether it's month-long sabbaticals (after just five years of employment) or summer Fridays, Propllr also makes sure people have time to recharge. - Transparent promotional guidelines and salary bands for every role. This is a somewhat recent development but Propllr now sets the standard here. - This is an incredible place to cut your teeth and learn a lot in a short amount of time. Specifically, the writing training you get here is second to none. (Side note: Brenna is an absolute genius when it comes to coaching writers and helping them find the pitch-perfect messaging for their clients.)

Cons

(Note: these aren't cons per se; they're just things to be aware of as you consider a move to Propllr!) - Like many agencies, the number of clients has a direct impact on workload. More clients mean more work. Though leadership has done a fairly good job of preserving work-life balance and leveraging freelancers if / as necessary. - In the past couple of years, there's been a fair bit of turnover. Again, this is typical of agencies (especially recently), but it's just something to bear in mind. - This is an efficient, lean agency that emphasizes collaboration. If you prefer sticking to yourself and keeping a low profile, this is not the place for you. - Tangentially: this is a lean agency, which means they're hiring when they need help quickly. Junior employees will have a steep learning curve. (But, speaking as someone who started as a junior-level employee, it gets easier – and you have support from leadership.) - Company diversity has ebbed and flowed with turnover. Leadership is aware, though, and has worked with the DE&I Working Group to formalize inclusive recruiting practices and foster a deeper sense of belonging within the agency.

Pros

I like working at Propllr because we have a genuinely kind-hearted team that makes it easy to have a quick, significant impact on client marketing teams. I've worked with many different colleagues and client contacts throughout my time here, and there's always a common denominator: good people. The clients are doing cool things in their respective industries, and the good people at Propllr help communicate that to the wider world. Good work-life balance, remote-friendly environment, and asteady consideration for raises and promotions have made me happy as an employee.

Cons

We don't have the manuals, tutorials, or training modules you might find at a corporate-type place. There's high expectations and there's no room to coast or hide. That said, you'll be rewarded for a bias to action and have the freedom to make things happen on your own.

Pros

Josh took a huge chance when he hired me after I had been out of work for three months. Little did I know at the time 5.5 years ago, Propllr would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me. Propllr is a fantastic place to grow a career like I did. Josh provided me so many opportunities to lead – and fail. I started at Propllr as a PR associate and worked my way to vice president of PR. That's all to say, Josh rewards hard work and results when he sees it. He trusted me to try new things and learn from things that didn't work. Aside from leadership, the clients are fun to work with and believe in what we do. The Propllr team is dedicated to doing amazing work and I was constantly blown away with the caliber and quality of writing and creativity here. The benefits and pay are top-notch as well. You won't find a similar total comp package/benefits/etc. at most places. Propllr will always have a very special place in my heart. And I would encourage anyone who's looking for a small but mighty agency to strongly consider it.

Cons

Like any agency, there's a client here and there who hasn't done PR before and/or doesn't get how it works (lead time on articles, not every interview leads to a placement, etc.). I don't think that's unique to Propllr though. Clients are smaller (Series A-E range), which can make securing media coverage harder than, say, for a Fortune 1000 company. I like that Propllr is focusing on case studies and data storytelling. That approach helped secure a ton of high value/impact placements in my last year or so here. While not necessarily a con, Propllr is entirely remote.
