Pros

Some of the best reasons to work for Service Alternatives is you get to help people with barriers/disabilities and help them find work/integrate into their community or help them in their home depending on your position. You get to work with a team that has great open door policy, has great benefits, free life insurance from the company for as long as you work there, FSA, 401k, they have pet insurances, you get paid by the mile when you drive, they have programs for kids in college, excellent maternity leave and are very flexible when it comes to call outs because life happens. Has great support from team mates and your managers. You get months of training and shadowing your other team mates, SA does not throw you ‘to the wolves’ so to speak. They make sure you are armed with your tools and information when entering the field. The company makes sure you feel comfortable with supporting your clients.

Cons

Some of the downsides for working for Service Alternatives, is because we are government funded, raises or pay increases are very rare. If you get promoted that comes with a pay increase but if you’re expecting pay to increase with your years of service that is not applicable in this field. Sometimes the clients can provide challenges, and can be overwhelming if employees don’t speak to their team or managers for support and ideas. When you first start in this field, you are given an over abundance of information and it can feel overwhelming at first. This job is not a remote job, you do have to go to your clients jobs, or go out into the community and talk to businesses.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such a thorough balanced review and a snapshot into work as a job coach. We share in the value of work opportunities for all individuals and thank you for your contributions to the team and our communities. We will continue to strive to offer competitive benefits, advocate with government agencies for fully funded services and continue work towards agency goals of competitive pay increases. We work hard to include a generous benefit package of flexible leave, development opportunities and more. Thank you!

Good co-workers, working with the clients is fun and rewarding. We do a lot of community activities, more than other companies. Management is open door. You can borrow leave.

Pay and benefits could be better.
