Pros

- Line manager goes to bat for his team at every opportunity despite not being the most visible team in the company - Interesting technical challenges - Flexible working to suit teams working pattern - Recognises and rewards contribution to company

Cons

- The wider company didn't start off with an in-house tech team which does sometimes lead to other teams not understanding tech function. Upper management does recognise our work well though - A lot of knowledge exists in silos, hard to get a grasp of other business areas at times. Partly down to me being remote, partly down to a lot of slack channels being private

Pros

You have the opportunity to really make an impact on the business and carve a lane for yourself. Any team member can voice an opinion whether it be centred on an issue or an opportunity. It is an environment that encourages ambition.

Cons

The nature of a start-up can be quite overwhelming for some. You've got to enjoy the scrappy nature of it and accept when things don't go to plan you cut your losses and move on.
