Pros

SteelEye has come a very long way over the last few years. The product is clearly best in class and is disrupting a market where innovation and creative thinking has been stagnant for some time. The collaborative DNA in the people is extremely strong, they win together, lose together. The people actually enjoy time with each other and the founders have worked extremely hard to foster a culture of inclusion, both in the office and outside of work. In fact, especially for a company of this size, a lot of thought goes into events and opportunities, big and small, to bring the teams together. SteelEye has tremendous opportunity, both from a business point of view and for personal/career growth. Like all companies in this stage of its scaling it is a lot of hard work which is not for everyone. But if you want to be part of something special you always have to work for it.

Cons

Being a disruptor will also make you a target. The established players in the market have no choice now but to take notice. As they fail in delivering their promises, SteelEye does take on those requirements and delivers. That sort of capability will make them nervous and prone to attack. You need to be ready and on top of your game. SteelEye is also driving the compliance/surveillance function to have to think differently, to no longer accept that something is just 'good enough'. That can be tough for people and you need to be supportive, always articulate the value and take people on a journey with you. It requires intelligence and a mastery of your craft. You need to bring your A game.

Pros

Small team, people are down to earth, intelligent and largely supportive of one another

Cons

Sometimes as it’s a small company you find that there’s a lot of pressure and things can change quickly but that is the nature of a scaling business - should not come as a surprise and much better than being in a large stuffy corporate environment
