Pros

The best culture and people I have ever worked with. If there were more companies that adopted Swells culture this world would be a better place. Each employee at the company has a voice to be heard with complete autonomy from top to bottom Strong communication and the collaborative environment that touches each and every team. The top-level management including the CEO has done a phenomenal job at making sure each employee has a voice. The workflow is a truly agile process with great discussions, dialogues, and communication amongst employees. The culture is so potent and influential that it subjectively changed my personal life as well.

Cons

A corporate venture by Pac Life. A real complex industry with many obstacles including a strong barrier to entry.

Pros

Mission: Only place I've felt like I'm not only here for making a few people rich by working on some silly web or mobile application. Swell's mission to make this world a better place was what drew me in and has kept me here and will keep me here. Amazing work-life balance: Management encourages and facilitates employees in keeping the all important work-life balance Immense flexibility: This is the only job I've ever worked at where I have been given this level of flexibility in my work life. As long as I get the work done on time, no one cares how I do it or where from. I've had to work remotely for large parts because of my personal situation and no one has ever batted an eye. Growth: In my time here, I've had the chance to work with some of the smartest and caring people I've ever met, it has helped me grow both professionally and in my personal life. As this company has grown, I've had the opportunity to grow with it and take on a more senior role. Rewards: You also get rewarded for your hard work here. I have been given more responsibility and a leadership role as the company has grown. Also, it's not all just take and no give. I have been given multiple pay raises in the two years as a reward for that hard work. Office space: Swell's office space is truly amazing. I've met with multiple people from different organizations at Swell's office and everyone has wished they worked here for the office alone.

Cons

Commute is a bit of a pain if you don't live in the Santa Monica / Culver City area.

Pros

We practice agile through and through - with a lot of XP sprinkled in. I really enjoy how thoughtful my colleagues are on code reviews and I have learned a ton since starting. Everyone I work with is super smart and talented.

Cons

None really. I know there has been a few people in other departments who haven't worked out, but really, life here is good.
