Pros
lots of secondary benefits like lease car, health insurance, pension, bonus, education, etc.. etc.. (constructive) criticism is appreciated and acted upon. They will move when you can explain why they should - reasonable requests are followed up on.
Cons
little possibilities for personal growth unless you take things in hand yourself, sometimes micromanagement frustrates people. often the "this is impossible because [person higher up the chain] said" is used which is frustrating
