Pros

-Excellent team environment/dynamic, even remotely, which is a testament to the hiring process. My colleagues are exceptional and intellectual. Sometimes I am blown away by how multi-faceted some folks are, and it's a pleasure working alongside them. -Everyone here takes their job seriously, but laughter and light banter make the days go by. I think Upwave has cultivated something special in that regard. -Challenging work that is never boring. Yes, there is "busy work" and process, but no day is exactly the same. You'll work with many different customers (agencies, publishers, brand direct) across all industry verticals. -Start-up culture is what you make of it. If you are someone who is motivated by autonomy & the prospect of personal growth that is often self-directed, this is the place for you. -I feel consistently valued & supported by my manager (and others more senior than I). My manager cares about me as a person and my professional growth. -The product/platform is great and modern. The CSM role allows me to work with the Product team & provide feedback, so it always feels like we're on the pulse of the company's goal to position ourselves as a software company. -Lots of events & activities to boost morale. -Benefits are great. The healthcare plan is 100% paid, and the opt-in for a more premium plan is affordable. Internet, phone, gym membership, and Spotify reimbursements each month. -The COVID response has been very realistic. We haven't been forced into an office & there doesn't seem to be a drop date for that happening any time soon.

Cons

-Communication between functional teams, in addition to top-down comms, could always be better. When changes in role responsibilities are communicated, it can be abrupt and we have to roll with it. -We are a lean team, which at times can be overwhelming. Some individuals may feel like they're "on an island" because silos do exist. -Getting away/unplugging/going on vacation feels like a challenge at times. While "unlimited" PTO sounds good in theory, the volume of work is not always conducive to taking time off. This is an industry issue, and not necessarily unique to Upwave. -The company is very heavy-handed in its approach to hiring Sales Directors. The Sales:CSM ratio could be revised. -When Product bugs occur they can throw a wrench in the day's plans & CSMs have to get creative with work-arounds. -A 401k match would be nice (even 2%).
