Challenging business prospect

Pros

Visionular is a video codec developer and cloud encoding saas provider. Their video encoders are faster than the competitors, thanks to the smart and hardworking engineering team in China.

Cons

They are rapidly losing the market share in China where most of their revenue comes from due to the ongoing recession in China and fierce competition. Indeed, they are growing fast in the rest of the world, but obviously not fast enough to offset the loss in China.

Working with Chinese

Business outlook

Pros

Fully remote, super hard working Chinese colleagues. You can find them on WeChat after their midnight, on weekends, on any holiday.

Cons

95% of the employees are based in China. Both founders are Chinese, the investors are Chinese. They have no office outside China. Communications with Chinese was really hard, not only because of languages, but the way they think, do business and treat people. They expect people to work in evenings, on weekends, but they pay below-average compensation.

Pros

I don't see any pros.

Cons

This company is a 100% Chinese company with no office in the US, even though they call themselves a US-based company. 99% of their employees are based in Hangzhou and Beijing, China. They are funded by chinese VCs and the chinese CCTV (china central television), the chinese communist party propaganda machine.
