Great Place to Work

Pros

The people - Very likeable group of people that I enjoy spending time with in and outside of work. Many talented individuals willing to invest their time and share their knowledge with you no matter how green you might be. The extras - How do you beat a fridge full of beer? You can't! Free lunch once a week. Fun team building activities. Summer Fridays, getting out at 12:30 to start the weekend is a great feeling. The location - I personally am glad Wakefly is not located in that traffic hell called Boston. The opportunities - Have a great business idea or an idea for a fun team building activity? Just bring it up. The management at Wakefly is willing and able to implement any idea that makes sense.

Cons

The pay - From everything that I have heard, seen and experienced the salaries are at the low end of the market. They try to make up for with all of the extras mentioned above. The changes - Wakefly is constantly changing. I get agency life is fast paced, but I feel like the structure and strategies change here more than normal. It seems sometimes the need to be cutting edge outweighs fully thought out ideas. That being said it does make Wakefly an interesting place to work. I'm rarely bored here.

Pros

Bright co-workers, exciting startup-like culture, social mini-events every week, lots of good humor and laughter around the office, well-stocked beer fridge, freedom to do your job as you see fit, flexibility to work at home and leave when needed, speedy career and salary development if assertive, and great opportunities to learn by working with many kinds of businesses. Management is excellent, if busy, but they will all make time for listening to your concerns. Beginning at this agency is the best way to jumpstart a career while enjoying the process.

Cons

Since you work with many clients yet have limited time, you will inevitably frustrate some of them. You will grow a lot through agency life, but it is stressful in moments, and it feels challenging to get ahead on work. You must rely on a self-taught process to improve, as the specialists you meet tend to have a good but specific amount of knowledge. If you work hard, you should gain a middle management role, but can feel overwhelmed at times dealing with clients. Digital marketing as a field moves at a rapid pace and will be tough to keep up with anywhere. This is a chance for you to help out. Try to learn from as many people as you can, and they will all go out of their way to teach you. Study on your own too though. Know that roles outside of agency life tend to be more comprehensive in that you need to know several specialties (SEO, PPC, Display, Marketing Automation, and so forth).
