Pros
Working at Wanelo for the past few years has shaped me as an engineer in so many positive ways.
- Pair programming has enabled me to learn an incredible amount of things from super talented developers. It allows you to quickly ramp up on different projects, learn the intricacies of various technologies from people who know them best, increase productivity, cut down on bugs, share knowledge between multiple people, and come up with so many ideas because you have two people brainstorming together.
- It is a blame-free, highly-collaborative environment. When things go wrong, people jump on board to assess & resolve the situation, instead of pointing fingers or freaking out. When things go right (most of the time), awesome! The goal is to find ways to build the best thing together, not prove that your idea is right, or that you are the only one who can understand your area of expertise.
- Work-life balance is super chill. I accomplish more in a day here than I have at any other job, and I'm not expected to cut back on night or weekend plans to work crazy hours.
- Everyone is awesome, and somehow hilarious. This is my favorite team of people I've ever been able to work with. People are super competent and smart, but also respectful, kind, funny, and interesting. It is so nice to spend lunch (which is provided, btw) and feelings walks (coffee + sunshine) getting to hang out with this team.
Cons
Things move super fast here, and sometimes we change priorities quickly. If you aren't into that, you would probably get overwhelmed. But you shouldn't, because it's great :-)
