      Pros

      Veteran software engineer, and this is my favourite job I've had. The work is worthwhile, there are some *very* smart and capable people among my colleagues, there's lots of variety and opportunities for learning, and I am free to choose the work/life balance that I want. Note that the pay range for each role and level within that role is set at -/+20% around the median for that role/level within an individual country/region

      Cons

      It can be chaotic. Decision-making is often consensus-driven, with lots of involvement from the volunteer community, and because it's a non-profit there's no bottom line and it can be v difficult to decide on priorities

      Pros

      People here are super kind. They still get things done but working here feels cozy in a way that other places I've worked (in the bay area) has not.

      Cons

      The foundation is a little slow and low on capital but they are working on it. Salary isn't competitive with silicon valley companies.
