Pros
The experienced techs are knowledgeable and serve as a great source of information. Management treats employees well and allows you to do your job peacefully, provided you fulfill your responsibilities. Additionally, managers and HR generally work well with employees to keep them satisfied for the most part.
Cons
The pay is limited and capped at a certain level, which restricts growth potential within the company. Once you obtain your NSF and CETA certifications, the only way to advance is by moving into management, provided there are openings available. Otherwise, you may need to look for opportunities elsewhere. When I decided to leave, I was surprised to hear from my top manager that the doors would be shut behind me, preventing any chance of returning in the future. This decision was disappointing, especially considering my strong performance and skill set. It seemed likely that this was due to the company losing an important client and not having anyone in my area to replace or backfill my position. However, my career growth should not have been hindered by their inability to support and maintain that customer. I found it very unprofessional to make business personal and burn a bridge that I would have preferred to keep intact.
