Good place to start IT career but not long term
Pros
For starters, syscom is a great place to learn. This is a place where you should only stay 2-3 years. Learn what you can and then leave. You will have hands on experience with all sorts of equipment. They will provide a really good opportunity for entry level IT. Other engineers are usually friendly and easy to talk to. If you are out of college and need a quick job then this is the place to start. Most staff are out of college and fresh. If you don't mind long hours and want to learn for low salary then this is the place.
Cons
All the negative comments that you see is most likely the truth. The truth is that this place will provide limited training. Things will just be dumped on you and you will need to learn everything on your own and from Google. But it is a very good opportunity. Projects and tasks are constantly just thrown at you and it is never ending. You usually wont have much time to even learn and just need to deploy and deploy. Everything is ASAP and last minute. Sales are constantly pushing. Customers are constantly calling and tons of requests. There is always a shortage of staff and engineers are constantly leaving after 1 year. The work load never ends. There is no work life balance. You will need to work late every week, constantly OT and weekend work. They do not value their staff. Everyone is treated like a slave. Insurance benefits are terrible, huge deductible. There wont be much room for growth since the people in management always remains the same.
