Technology and Business Analytics Manager

Melbourne
$129K - $145K (Glassdoor Est.)

Fyfe is an Australian professional project services firm delivering value through integrated engineering, environment, planning and survey. We employ the best people to deliver high value projects that build our client prosperity in the defence, energy, resources, property and infrastructure sectors.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Technology and Business Analytics Manager to join our Melbourne office to establish and lead our Business Analysis practice. Reporting directly to the Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO), this is a high-impact leadership role sitting at the intersection of strategy, data, and operations, translating complex business challenges into clear, evidence-based analysis and actionable solutions.

This isn't just a management role. You'll be the most senior practitioner in the team as it grows, personally leading the most complex analytical engagements while setting the standard for quality and rigour across the practice. You'll move fluidly between hands-on analysis, stakeholder engagement, practice leadership, and solution implementation, with equal weight on doing and leading. If you thrive on turning data into decisions and building high-performing teams, this is your opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Business and Data Analysts — setting direction, priorities, and performance standards while managing workload planning and capacity for timely, high-quality delivery.
  • Coach and mentor team members, building a culture of continuous improvement and analytical excellence.
  • Define and uplift practice standards, methodologies, and tools to ensure consistency and professionalism across all deliverables.
  • Lead end-to-end business process analysis, producing current-state and future-state documentation including process maps, swim-lane diagrams, and gap analyses to identify inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Analyse complex datasets using SQL, validating data quality and translating raw findings into meaningful business narratives for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Design and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for business and executive audiences, establishing governance standards across the practice.
  • Develop structured options papers and business cases presenting multiple solution pathways with clear analysis of benefits, risks, costs, and trade-offs.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders as a trusted analytical partner, proactively identifying improvement opportunities and reporting on delivery progress and realised value to the CDIO.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in business analysis, including 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Proven experience leading and developing analysts, including coaching and workload management
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to independently query, troubleshoot, and optimise relational data
  • Advanced Power BI experience delivering executive-level dashboards and reporting
  • Strong capability in process analysis (mapping, root cause, gap analysis)
  • Experience developing business cases and options papers for senior stakeholders
  • Confident communicator with the ability to translate complex information into clear insights and specifications, working closely with peers to create business solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes on time
  • Experience using AI tools to improve analysis, productivity, and decision-making (including prompt engineering)

Why Join Fyfe

  • Culture & connection: team events, celebrations, and recognition programs
