My firm has us under a PTO freeze through September. Says the workload is too heavy and no PTO requests during this time will be honored. We can't even put in vacation requests until this freeze ends. How is this legal?
Is the CPA still worth getting?
I'm leaving Deloitte, but my new job doesn't start until mid-July. When should I put in my notice? The last time I gave an employer a full two weeks' notice, I was fired that day. I don't want to be without a check. I've only been here three months, and haven't seen how my managers handle it when someone puts in their notice. Is Deloitte known for letting people work through their notice period?
None of these people in private equity have their CPAs yet they are now controlling/owning CPA firms. Does anyone see a problem here?
How are my fellow accountants preparing for the rough economic times ahead?
Culture at BDO? They must’ve added that very recently. It’s all the same OP, same BS, different people. It really just depends on the team you work with internally - this makes the biggest difference.
This - every firm at a similar level is the same. I’m terms of the mid-market, I’ve been at RSM and BDO and the team itself is what differentiates them.
Both wannabe big 4 and are more respected then KPMG.
Growing is one thing wanna be big 4 is not the same. Neither wants to be a Big 5. If that was the case two of the firms would have merged already.
Interned at both. GT had better opportunities for me, better teams, and an overall better experience. Almost all of my seniors/in-charges at BDO were newly hired internationals who were 40+ and the expectation was to work with people around my age. The language/culture barrier due to these international hires was also off putting. Even two of the associates who I worked with were telling me they were leaving and did so. Extremely happy I went with GT. I gave BDO a chance and it was a flop.
@BDO 2 - It would be different if they were young international hires but 40+ year old in-charges is not the culture BDO should be going for.
🧐
I’m surprised at the review numbers differences tbh
i know of a lot of people that left GT to go to BDO
P1, you work at BDO right!
GT - worked at both twice actually
Avoid BDO if you like being paid fair market value
I knew partners that left to go to BDO then left within less than a year because of their lack of ethics and the pressure to just have them sign stuff even if it’s wrong. It’s reflected in pcaob results. But I guess people don’t seem to care about ethics.
