      Great place to work

      Account executive
      Current employee
      Boston, MA

      Business outlook

      Pros

Datadog is an outstanding observability and security platform that provides deep visibility into infrastructure, applications, and logs—all in a single pane of glass. The platform is intuitive, highly scalable, and continuously innovating with new features like AI-powered monitoring and security analytics. The company culture is also a major highlight. Datadog fosters a collaborative, high-performance environment where employees are supported in their growth. Leadership is transparent, and there's a strong emphasis on customer success. Work-life balance varies by role, but the company offers great benefits and career development opportunities. If you're looking for a cutting-edge monitoring solution or a rewarding place to work, Datadog delivers on both fronts.

      Cons

Nothing that I can think of!

Toxic, obnoxious, incompetent leadership and management

      Pros

Great fruits, drinks, snacks, food bar.

      Cons

      - Leadership lacks competence and fosters a negative work environment. - Compensation is below industry standards. - Employee benefits have been declining. - Limited career growth opportunities, making promotions slow and difficult. - No bonuses, and stock grants are minimal. - The CEO and most leaderships have poor design sense but disregards professional input. - Poor work life balance.

      Datadog isn’t remote-friendly anymore

      Senior software engineer
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      1. Founder-led with a long-term vision – Leadership prioritizes sustainable growth over short-term gains. 2. Industry-leading products – We dogfood everything internally, ensuring high quality and first hand user experience. 3.Talented and collaborative colleagues – You’ll work with smart, driven people who are eager to solve complex problems together.

      Cons

      1. Limited opportunities for remote employees – Remote employees have fewer career growth and internal mobility options compared to in-office counterparts. Strict location requirements severely limit my ability to pursue new roles within Datadog, as very few teams are open to remote hires anymore. 2. Lack of career growth opportunities – My responsibilities and impact have grown significantly, but this has not been reflected in my compensation. For example, despite leading a large team of engineers, my pay remains the same as an individual contributor. There is a disconnect between increased scope and recognition. 3. Lack of transparency – Leadership often makes decisions in isolation and communicates them only after the fact. Instead of fostering strong, autonomous teams capable of making informed decisions, there is a tendency to micromanage. Leadership should focus on enabling teams with the context and trust they need to drive decisions effectively. (This may be specific to my department, rather than the company as a whole.)

Very High Pressure, Results at Any Cost Culture

      Account executive

      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Strong global brand and respected product in the observability space - Good logo value for future career opportunities

      Cons

      - Very high-pressure performance environment with sustained quota intensity - Significant emphasis on short-term results over long-term deal development in some teams - Manager quality and coaching depth vary widely, employee experience depends heavily on immediate leadership - Work-life balance can be difficult to maintain during performance review periods - Ramp expectations can feel aggressive relative to the time needed to build stable pipeline - Not an environment that suits every selling style, especially relationship-led or consultative sellers early in ramp
