What is a typical working day like at Hobby Lobby?

Christian based company with Christian values it was a nice atmosphere.

Very strict attendance policy! They expect all employees to clock in 3 minutes before scheduled shift anything later is considered late by there standards. If you have to leave in the middle of your shift for any reason other than COVID 19, it goes down on your file as an occurrence even if you have PPTO to cover your missed hrs. Get too many occurrences on your file (I believe I had 3, had to leave twice due to my daughter sick at daycare, the other which got me terminated I was 3 min late for shift) will lead to termination.

Discount but not much else

I think one of the best things about Hobby Lobby is the fact that since it gets so busy during the holidays, your shift goes by fast. An hour will seem like 20 minutes.

Well, like any workplace, there's rude customers who straight-up have no manners or patience at all. But that's not the main issue. The issue is that with certain sales some workers forget to take down the sale signs, so stuff that isn't on sale that week *LOOKS* like it's on sale when it's not. Then I have to explain to the customer that it isn't on sale, and they get mad at me. And when it's an impatient customer I'm explaining that to, they can tend to get pretty aggressive with their words. So that's a tad bit irritating to deal with. Plus, the younger coworkers are pretty rude. They're really passive-aggressive when you talk to them, and they talk smack about every worker there. I mean *EVERY* worker. Even if you've never interacted/talked to them.

Great people, but does not make up for the pay.

Heavily understaffed, made minors work illegally (Past midnight every night) and locked the doors so no one could leave before.

- never bored - flexible schedule - fun coworkers - employee discount - low stress - lunch break

No real cons, other than you have the occasional difficult costumer, but that’s anywhere in retail. Do expect to be on your feet the entire shift (other than break) but it’s not strenuous labor!
