Pros
the only pros about this place are the 30% discount, occasional free stuff, and my coworkers were all fun people. This place started out SO good. Apparently too good to be true is very real. I really thought that I was going to love it here, and for a time I did. I think I could have stayed if it hadn't been for the sudden changes with management style.
Cons
Out of literally nowhere, we were suddenly being extremely micromanaged, yelled at for talking to each other, yelled at for not looking "busy enough" etc. They would tell us to "find something to do" but not actually have anything for us to do. And god forbid we had a conversation with someone WHILE we were working, even though we were previously told that was perfectly fine. We felt like elementary schoolers that weren't allowed to speak in class. We were constantly looking over our shoulders to make sure a manager wasn't coming so we could tell each other anything. But of course these rules don't apply to management, when we could literally see them around talking and laughing about very non-work-related subjects. Rules for thee not for me, l guess. Schedule changes happened out of nowhere with zero notice. People who were hired as full time suddenly had weeks where they weren't even working 30 hours, and were risking losing their health insurance and benefits. But don't request off! They'll call you on your day off, because somehow they are always simultaneously understaffed and overstaffed. Racist comments, sexist comments, and uncomfortable language are all perfectly acceptable though! if any concerns are brought up to a managers it gets brushed aside and ignored.
Pros
30% discount, work with great people, weekend warrior bonus for hourly employees, decent but expensive health insurance.
Cons
Central Office and EE are not supportive. EE will only protect the company, you cannot trust to go to them or you may be retaliated against. The pay is not fair for the workload, employees and managers are burned out, attendance policy is terrible - great employees get fired for being late. Not a realistic policy. Central office micromanages the managers by watching through cameras. They bully the managers daily. There’s no trust or appreciation. They change processes and software without any consideration. They force employees and managers to sign modules as agreements to use it against them. Be careful of what you sign or agree too.
Pros
Health insurance, discount, fellow coworkers are usually really great people.
Cons
The company has progressively lost their goodness. They treat people as though they are completely expendable. You’re lucky to get a raise every year, and many managers go years without one. It’s very common for employees just starting out, to be making the same or only slightly less than someone who’s been there for many years. The politics of the central office and upper management are apparent. Your whole career can be threatened on the whim of one bad person in power. I have left this place feeling taken advantage of and that I was never truly valued for my excellent work and authenticity.
Pros
Great co workers. Free to staff items and produce. Good health benefits. Built in low impact cardio from all the standing walking lifting moving for 8 hours a day.
Cons
Where to even start? The other 2s and 3 stars are very accurate comments. Very high expectations for what they pay. You get pulled all over the store to do tasks they expect you to do 500% correct. A lot of micromanaging which is just a grind. Management is chaotic. Passive agressive “positivity” Favoritism. HR has an algorithm for pay increases that is out of touch for how hard and dedicated team members can be at the store level. If you specialize in a department you don’t get more pay. “We have the courage to grow” slogan translates to do more for the same money. Rigorous monitored and very strict late/absence policies. 9:00am means 9:00 am. Not 9:02. The benefits and coworkers fit so well into my needs it’s the reason I don’t leave but so many people do and your end up working with a skeleton crew of people more frazzled. Hard to leave/hard to stay. Seems great to folks when they start until it’s not.
Pros
30% Discount for employees who exceed certain amount of hours. Decent health benefits, meet some good coworkers from different backgrounds. Opportunities to move up if you want.
Cons
It seems like central office management is completely clueless of what they want and the direction of the company. They will also hold different managers to different expectations when they want to. If you're a favorite in the eyes of central office LT you can continue to fail as a store leader and they will ignore any or all issues brought up by other staff. They don't set clear expectations for all managers, they're growing outside their means and do not have enough managers to staff all the stores currently open and open on opening up more in the near future, they don't know how to properly scale a business. Favoritism and Nepotism has run and continues to run rampant throughout the company. You will be absurd and worked into the group by upper management, they expect all managers to drive up to an hour to stores not including traffic and will not pay more for that longer commute. They also expect you to begin work as early as 4 am and within the same week work closing shifts ending part 10 pm. You will have very little work life balance, even though central office preaches this. The only way to keep up on emails is to check them off the clock. They have mandatory trainings that will take up you're time at the store, making shifts longer or on your days off. Employees are pretty much miserable all the time, the raises are laughable. The expectations and extra work put on employees are causing more to quit. Too many more to name
