Pros
They make it easy to schedule your hours & the app functions better than most gig apps.
Cons
They're inflexible, be careful about dropping orders early on because if you drop below 90% completion they will automatically deactivate you. The appeal process is automatic, no human sees it, and the deactivations are permanent. You'll get a warning email, but if your area isn't busy enough to do enough orders to raise the percentage before the deadline then there is nothing you can do and the algorithm doesn't have he ability to care. After deactivation you'll keep receiving kudos from the app and tips from customers as they're sent in after the fact, so you'll keep getting notifications that say "your doing a great job!" "your on time bonus is on the way!" "you have more top ratings!" etc knowing that they've already put a permanent block on you via your SSN so you never have the chance to even try again. Honestly I don't know that I would ever recommend trying Shipt solely on the basis that the termination system doesn't actually give anyone the chance to fix any mistakes they make early on, allowing that kind of snap judgement without a human involved while under 100 orders is frankly bizarre.
