Pros
401K, health insurance, generous employee discount (40%), access to large name brands, career development, teaching sales tactics.
Cons
While the discount has been one of the reasons I personally have stuck around for so long (7 yrs) it isn’t enough for the mental drain that this job can put on you. You truly have to be able to take anything people throw to you. Whether that be from your co-workers or the people who shop there. I have had customers say the most outlandish things to me and I have not been able to say anything in return. This job did help learn how to coach and train people but the opportunity for growth can heavily rely on who you’re close to. The management training program is great but unless you have the patience to listen to others constant babble over zoom I don’t recommend it. They talk about making six figure salaries and the bonus potentials and the work life balance you can have. But what they don’t emphasize as much is that you will work almost every weekend, work open to close every day for up to a year, and not be able to take action even if you have the time. This job has so many ups but it is equally balanced by its downs. If you can get in with them right people and get to managing quickly you are more likely to be successful but if you hang back for too long you become a forgotten piece of a puzzle and wont be able to advance any further.
