Cons
I was hired as a temporary employee to support staffing efforts for the new psychiatric hospital scheduled to open on June 30th. During a three-month period, I successfully recruited and hired 36 Registered Nurses and 21 Mental Health Technicians to support the hospital’s opening.
Throughout my assignment, I worked diligently under tight timelines and was consistently given positive feedback from leadership, including being told by my supervisor and the Interim Chief Officer that I was doing an outstanding job and would be receiving a permanent offer by May 1st. I also supported two onsite Saturday interview events to help accelerate hiring efforts.
On April 8th, I was unexpectedly informed by phone that I would not be offered a permanent position. During that call, I received feedback that I “get overwhelmed” and lacked “critical thinking skills,” which was very surprising given that I had never received any prior performance concerns, coaching, or formal corrective actions during my assignment.
I was also informed I would receive an exit interview; however, that process was never provided. In addition, I was told I would receive a payout for accrued PTO, which later proved to be incorrect.
Due to my experience with UT Southwestern Medical Center and HR throughout the conclusion of my assignment, I found the overall process to be disappointing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend working here. I take pride in the results I delivered and the effort I put into supporting the organization during a critical staffing period.
