What is working from home like at Veolia?

Wonderful colleagues. Nice offices with coffee and snacks provided. Other perks include work from home days, flexible reporting times, birthday celebrations at the office and free weekly lunch hour yoga classes.

No pay raises or, after years, a very slight raise. minimal chances of promotion.

Can work from home and nobody checks if I'm actually doing anything

Treat staff like criminal children. The Draconian HR timesheets are pathetic. Other companies are far more progressive and trusting. There used to be perks but all been taken away as the company loses contracts. More time is spent convincing the few remaining customers that we are making progress than actually fixing problems. I do not think I will still be here in a few months.

Career progression - not enough opportunities

For the time being, there are still some very knowledgeable Engineers at the company.

The company has fantastic product potential and the IP to back it up, but is just not being marketed or sold. The most inflexible flexible working policy I have ever encountered. The company willingly sold IP to a customer. Staff are treated like primary school children. Anything "at line manager's discretion" must first be approved by HR.

Not enough people to do the work

Good supportive colleagues and in my personal experience Manager. Salary is slightly low but the pension is good. Decent holidays and can buy more. Flexible, may be role dependant, but you can WFH, alter your hours etc.

Some strange senior management decisions. There is a difference in T&Cs, some people work 40, some 37.5, some 35 hours for similar money. Very biased to certain roles. No general reward if company does well to lower level workers. Pay rises tend to be less than the inflation

Work from home (rarely), not monitored for work

Severe lack of communication and respect from management, no supporting documentation or inclination on how to approach a task, dreadful work hours with no recognition or additional pay (overtime) or call out fees, extremely poor work life balance. The list goes on….
