I applied online. I interviewed at ADT (Springfield, VA) in Feb 2013
Interview
I filled out an application online and was contacted by a recruiter a few days later. She gave me access to an online portal to fill out some additional paperwork, do a quiz, and initiate a background check. After that was all cleared, I had an in person interview with the Residential Sales Manager for my territory. It lasted 30 minutes and was more conversational than anything else. We went over the position, duties, requirements, and whether or not I had the right personality for this kind of job.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
There is no salary for this job. When hired, you'll receive a training stipend for an initial training period. After that is over, all of your pay would be from commission earnings on sales. Is that something you are comfortable with?
We have minimum requirements in place per month for total sales and self-generated sales. Have you ever had a position that used this kind of quota system?
In the beginning there will be a lot of hand holding and mentorship, but the expectation once the training period is over is that you will work independently to meet your job requirements. Have you ever had a position like this, maybe with minimal supervision or where you made your own schedule?
Fast and to the point. Basically letting you know that after a brief training period you're 100% commission with no base pay. I wouldn't recommend this job if you need any sort of consistent income.

They are very straight forward and detailed in what the position requires. The managers are informative and very open to your questions. They also leave you with personal info to follow up incase you forgot to ask any questions

Interview
Conversational, asked them about work life balance and mentioned you work until 5pm and could definitely make over $100k. That was definitely not the case with customer care scheduling appointments past 5pm and managers having you cold call people after 7pm
