I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ASME (New York, NY) in Oct 2025
Interview
I never write reviews, but I felt I had to share my intern application journey. My interview process with ASME was unexpectedly lengthy for an internship role — spanning four rounds over approximately six weeks. The HR internship itself was scoped for only 20 hours per week and split between two managers and two distinct job segments, which already raised concerns.
The interview sequence included a phone screen, individual interviews with each manager, and finally a conversation with the Chief HR Officer. Unfortunately, the final round was disappointing. The Chief HR Officer appeared disengaged during the conversation — frequently looking around the room and not showing genuine interest in my responses. The interview abruptly ended after about 14 minutes, at which point I was asked, “Is there anything else you want to tell me?” rather than being meaningfully assessed on my fit or experiences.
This was a role I was clearly overqualified for — with lower pay, fewer hours, and something I applied to as something fun to do while completing my MBA. When the recruiter called to notify me I was not selected, I was told the chosen candidate was “more well-rounded.” Being that I have had 6+ internships, and am certified in my field, this reasoning was quite interesting. Overall, this felt like an unnecessary process for a 300-employee organization. I would not recommend pursuing internships here based on this experience unless it is your first internship.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
If you had to implement a new idea to ERGS, what would you do, how would you go about it.
After four interviews I got ghosted. Didn't get any thank you but we found someone else. Just silence. I also followed up twice with HR and nothing. If this is how they conduct their interview process, than working their must be awful.

Interview
The process took 3 months. I applied online and got contacted by HR 1.5 months later. Hiring manager and panel interviews within another 1.5 months.
Average interview questions and more conversational. The only issue was no response from HR until you figured out they moved forward with other candidates. If you are not from nonprofit organizations , you should ask how open they are to selecting candidates from different industries.
