HR phone screen, followed by a discussion with two execs, followed by a virtual onsite with 3 additional sessions. These included a one hour hands on coding session, where I was asked to build a mobile app, behavioral with a member of their design team, and a system design round. I built the mobile app without any issues, as well as adding the very basic extension they requested. They asked a very basic, follow up question about how I'd extend it, which did not instill confidence in their own subject area expertise. The designer contacted me day of, to push back her session an hour. When we met, they were riding on a ferry, and there were constant connection issues. Their questions were not very comprehensive. They mostly seemed targeted to ascertain whether or not I could work independently in a quickly changing environment, which raised definite concerns about their management, and whether or not they had a clear direction for their product. The system design round was extremely general and had little connection to the mobile ecosystem on which I work. Again, the interviewer failed to instill confidence in leadership at the company. Overall I was very unimpressed with both the ability of their team to conduct interviews, and the competence of the staff in general.
