I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Academia.edu (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2024
Interview
Was reached via LinkedIn to apply for a full stack software engineer. Recruiter set up a phone call to discuss the role/company. Phone call was about 20 mins long. Where she discussed the engineering teams/current goals. She asked if I have any questions for her. What my strong point is as a developer and if I am open to relocating to San Francisco. Conversation was easy then she said she would share my profile/her notes with the manager and contact me early next week for the next interview/coding challenge.

I applied through university. I interviewed at Academia.edu
Interview
Asked to work on a real world project live with different pairs coming in every hour to assist. Then typical theory based questions having to do with data structures and runtime knowledge.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Academia.edu in July 2021
Interview
Got contacted by a recruiter asking me to take a www.triplebyte.com quiz. The very next day got contacted by the Lead Recruiter saying that I was no longer considered for the position. I asked the reason why a day before somebody else asked me to do a technical quiz, since I felt I was receiving mixed signals. The Lead Recruiter then sent me another email cc'ing the employee that had originally invited me, stating that my profile was not a match. The Lead recruiter stated that
- I didnt have a valid visa (This was not a requirement in the job posting)
- My experience did not align with their tech stack (proficiency in their tech stack was marked as desirable but not required)
Thay say that "it's much more important that you be a fast learner that can pick up new technologies quickly" but this is completely false since they disqualified me for my current tech stack.
Also the lack of internal communication is ASTOUNDING
